The Reclusive Pilgrim

This a blog of my thoughts on politics, religion, philosophy. I am a reclusive pilgrim searching for the meaning of life and the higher power of goodness, in this world . My desire is to share my thoughts of what I have discovered through experience.

Meaning, Value, and Purpose Considered.

Today I consider somethings. Namely meaning, value and purpose of life, or MVP for short. Whether we realize or not the universe is a living thing. It has vast powers beyond comprehension. The only one’s capable of knowing the power of the universe, are the direct offspring of the universe, Gods like ours, and of other solar systems. For every solar system out there, there is a God that rules over that solar system. Not all Gods are a like and not all hold the same value’s as our. What is the purpose of being in the universe? For that we first have to understand the meaning of our life. Allow me to repeat my self from an earlier post. We are characters in life. We are like actors or who these characters in a story that never ends and it is up to us to write our part in life as we see fit. If we don’t like our characters then it is up to use to find a way to change. If we don’t like the role we play in the story then it is up to us to change it. But we often seem directionless. That is why we ask, what is the meaning of life? And we ask of God what purpose is there in our life? We look to the almighty for that direction and if we listen closely enough we will hear it. The lord will often place in on paths that best suit our natural talents. Since no two people are the same,( not even twins are the same person since there are things that distinguish them) we all live unique lives. By finding our value or our purpose on life, in the never ending story we are then able to determine our place in the universe. First realize that the universe is an awfully big place and where we do not have the ability to travel to other solar systems just yet our ability to influence events in the universe is rather limited, thus for now our place and the purpose of our lives remains here on earth. Second when the time comes and the technology does exist to find other beings in other solar systems it will be at that point that we can ask what role do we, or should we play in the universe? My prediction is that humans will be the great influences of the universe. Why? Because we are unique in that we can decide between good and evil. That might not always be the case of other beings. There other reasons that will make us the great influences of the Universe such as our ability to persevere through challenges and our loving and caring natures. Other beings and other cultures might find that, who we are to be refreshing compared to what they know of. As humans we bring our own history and perspective to the affairs of the universe. We will either by chance or design, find our place in the story of the universe.

The Basics of My Beliefs........

The basics of My Beliefs;
Every philosopher, every person develops a set of beliefs during the course of their life. These beliefs are developed through gaining knowledge and living life. Here I lay out the foundation of what I believe. When I was a teenager growing up everyone asked what I wanted to be with when I grew up. I gave the usual answers of being a doctor or fireman, I even dreamed of becoming a Marine. I was a lost individual I had no direction in my life. I did apply to the Marine Corps when I was seventeen, my parents signed for me. But then I failed the medical exam for certain reasons. So the military was not an option for me. I had to find direction by other means. I grew up in a traditional catholic home. My family went to church every weekend. Growing up we learned to pray. So because I was directionless I turned to God in prayer to lead me on a path that he wanted me to follow. Through prayer and meditation I came to learn four basic rules of life. The first three are all interrelated. First seek knowledge for in knowledge comes attaining understanding. Second by attaining understanding a person might grow wise with experience. Third after a person has attained understanding and mastery of material they then should seek wisdom. Wisdom is used in how I act. I must first know, then I must then understand, then I must act in a way that is justified by what I know and understand. The fourth rule was perhaps the first thing I had to learn and it is among the hardest lessons of life, how to be patient. If a person is to learn then they must first be patient since knowledge does not coming rushing like a flooded river. Knowledge can only be grasped and understood at the speed at which a persons’ capacity of learning is capable of absorbing it. Another thing that I have come to understand about life is that we all have characters. By that I mean those characteristics that define us as individuals. I see my place in life as being the character I am. We live on a big stage it’s called life. I look at life as chance to write another chapter in the “Never Ending Story” that is basically my life. I decide how I want to be, I want to react to people and to circumstances as they arise. It’s also up to me to take advantage of the opportunities to advance my career or my life as I see fit. I may be the author of my own story but I believe that God provides me the opportunities to go in the direction that he wants me to take. Another thing is even though I don’t hear God’s voice directly I hear it in the timely advice that people offer to me. So even though he cannot offer me his wisdom directly he moves people to be in my life at a certain point in time, to offer me the wisdom and advice I need to live my life according to his will. Whether or not I listen is up to me. I further believe that the conscience is a battle ground within us between good which is God or evil which is the side of the fallen angels. We all hear those voices within us telling us to do things. But is it for good or evil? We must learn to listen to those voices and learn which one is the voice of God within or the voice of evil. It remains our choice as to which voice we listen to. I further believe that this world, this solar system was created for that very reason, to have beings that are capable of deciding between the two and asking the questions of which is better the voice of reason and wisdom or the reckless, foolish folly of evil. My beliefs have been shaped by years of personal experience, meditation and study. In my youth I studied the book of Proverbs in the Old Testament as well as the book of Sirach also known as Ecclesiasticus. These books gave me the basic training that I needed to further my self education. As for the question of death I believe that a person needs to seek the blessing of God to attain a place in heaven and to avoid the pains of death. I live my life is such a way as to hope one day I might be worth of such an honor. Therefore the basis for my beliefs are found in my character and the person that I have become.
