The Reclusive Pilgrim

This a blog of my thoughts on politics, religion, philosophy. I am a reclusive pilgrim searching for the meaning of life and the higher power of goodness, in this world . My desire is to share my thoughts of what I have discovered through experience.

The hidden cost of the Minimum Wage:

There are hidden costs to any raise to the minimum wage. From a personal perspective the raise in the minimum will be like a double edge sword. My employer will have to raise my pay, in order to keep my salary ahead the cost of liveing increases. But on the flip side my employer will cut the amount of hours available to my dept. to scheduale, limiting the number of part timers who would be allowed to work for us. Thus there would be added pressure on my boss and I, for increased productivity because we would be limited in how much help we have available to us. There's another issue not affecting me directly but my boss. Because he's on salary he face's haveing his salary frozen, to help pay for the wage hike that the part timers would get.

Thus the costs of minimum wage increase are:
1: an artifical raise in productivity
2: a freeze on some salaries
3: fewer employees would be highered

I doubt politicians have thought about the minimum wage in these terms, they don't live in the real world, they live in a hypothetical world whare policy ideas' seem like a good thing but are not allway's practical.

I'm a working stiff who would be considered makeing a liveable wage, but not even I support a rise in the minimum wage because I see how it would hurt me, and not help me. Who supports the rise in the minimum wage? Do gooder Democrat's who want to keep meddleing in the economy.
